Grasshopper is a virtual PBX telephone system that was originally known as GotVmail. GotVmail changed its name to Grasshopper after 6 years as a rebranding effort in in 2003. This was spearheaded by Siamak Taghaddos and David Hauser. These two young entrepreneurs are the co-founders of Grasshopper Internet PBX phone system with Taghaddos being the Chief Executive Officer. Before the changes were made in the hosted PBX services of Grasshopper, modifications were also made in the service plans that Grasshopper offered. This came as a result of the stiff competition that Grasshopper Internet PBX phone system faced.
The rebranding efforts of GotVMail was made not to give it a fresh start in virtual PBX communication but to improve the virtual PBX services and features that it offered. This is another reason that prompted the founders of Grasshopper to create a virtual PBX telephone system of their own.
