eVoice

The first communications system that eVoice marketed was not a virtual PBX telephone system. It was rather a voicemail system, created way back in 1998 by eVoice founders Wendell Brown and Craig Taro Gold. Back then, the company was still based in Menlo Park, California and had a small consumer base. Using the Internet-system that was produced that time, eVoice was able to introduce the world’s first large-scale, Internet-enabled voicemail system.

eVoice then expanded their reach and became business partners with telecom companies that included MCI and AT&T. Moreover, it also created partnerships with web portals and VoIP providers, enhancing their niche. Qwest, Snowball and Dialpad are among the most popular companies that it had lobbied with. In the middle of 2001, eVoice was acquired by AOL and became AOLbyPhone. But before being merged into AOLbyPhone, eVoice had raised over $50 million as financial support from idealab!, Nokia and other investors. In 2004, the brand name of eVoice and its Internet domain was acquired by j2 Global Communications (NASDAQ:JCOM).

Nowadays, eVoice provides virtual PBX phone systems and hosted PBX services. The telecommunication features that are presented by eVoice Internet PBX phone system are the same as with other virtual PBX phone system service providers. Auto attendant, call routing, availability of US & Canada numbers and voicemail to text are just some of the core features of eVoice virtual PBX phone systems.

Aside from the core features of eVoice Internet PBX phone system, other hosted PBX services are also available. To name a few, eVoice also provides interested businesses with toll free numbers, multiple telephone extensions, conference calling, call transfer, call screening & announce, professional greetings, sequential ringing, music on hold, dial by name directory, speed dial and call & usage history services on demand.

Finally, eVoice hosted PBX services also presents an online administration feature that enables their customers to manage their communication from outside of their office. And as an added value, its virtual PBX phone systems are also compatible to use with the iPhone, and with Android and Blackberry phones.
